The Short Version

Most TinyPNG Now tools process your images inside your browser, so those files are not uploaded to our servers. The one exception is the Background Remover, which sends your image to a cloud AI service to cut out the background. We have no user accounts and do not ask for personal information. The site may show advertising from Google, which uses cookies as described in Section 4.

Independent site notice: TinyPNG Now is an independent image utility. It is not affiliated with, associated with, authorized by, or endorsed by TinyPNG or Voormedia B.V. “TinyPNG” is a trademark of its respective owner.

1. Your Images and Files

Browser-based tools. Compression, resizing, cropping, rotating, format conversion, watermarking, EXIF removal and most other tools run locally in your browser using JavaScript, the Canvas API and WebAssembly. Your image is loaded into your device’s memory, processed there, and made available for download. It is not sent to our servers, and it is cleared when you close or refresh the page.

Background Remover (cloud AI). Removing a background uses a cloud AI model, so this tool works differently. When you use it, your image is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a server function we operate, which forwards it to the Clipdrop API to process it. The result is returned to your browser. We do not store your image or the result. Clipdrop processes the image under its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control. Please do not use the Background Remover for images you are not comfortable sending to a third-party service.

Each tool page states whether it runs in your browser. If you want to be sure, you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads: the browser-based tools keep working, while the Background Remover will not.

2. Information We Collect

We do not run user accounts, and we do not ask you for your name or email address to use the tools. The information that does reach us or our providers is limited to:

  • Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) receives your IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp when you load a page. This is how every website works. We use it only for delivery, security and troubleshooting.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, and we use them only to reply.
  • Questions you type into the site assistant. If you use the chat assistant, the text of your question and the last few messages of that chat are sent through our server function to Google’s Gemini API, which writes the answer. We do not store the chat, and images or files are never sent to it. Please do not type personal details. Google processes this text under its own terms, and on the free Gemini API tier Google may use it to improve its products.
  • Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site (for example which pages are viewed, which buttons are clicked and how far pages are scrolled). They record interactions such as page views, clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement, along with device, browser, approximate location and referrer information. It does not receive the images or files you process in the browser-based tools, and we ask Clarity to mask previews of your files in session recordings. See Section 4.
  • Advertising data. If ads are shown, Google and its partners may collect data through cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 4.

We do not sell personal information.

3. Local Storage on Your Device

TinyPNG Now uses your browser’s localStorage for a few preferences and counters:

  • Your selected language and, where available, dark mode preference
  • A running count of images processed and bytes saved on your device, used for the stats display

This information stays in your browser and is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

4. Advertising and Cookies

We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running this free site. Where ads are shown, the following applies:

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. This can include the DoubleClick cookie, which lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your browsing.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
  • To learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent through a consent banner before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time.

Analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity). We use Google Analytics 4 for traffic statistics and Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session recordings. They may set cookies (such as _ga, _clck and _clsk) to recognize a return visit and group page views into a session. We turn off Google signals and ad personalization features in Google Analytics. Visitors in Europe are treated as not having agreed to analytics cookies by default: Google Analytics is not loaded for them and Clarity runs without setting cookies, until you give consent where a consent banner is shown. We do not run either tool if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy statement. We also count simple actions such as adding a file or clicking download to learn which tools are used; these counts never include file names or contents. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some ads and features may not work as expected if you block them.

5. Third-Party Services

To work, the site relies on these third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Vercel – website hosting and the server function used by the Background Remover
  • Google Gemini API – writes the answers of the site assistant from the text you type (never from images or files)
  • Clipdrop – cloud AI processing for the Background Remover only
  • Google – Google Fonts for the Inter typeface, and Google AdSense for advertising
  • Google Analytics – traffic statistics (see Section 4)
  • Microsoft Clarity – usage analytics, heatmaps and session recordings (see Section 4)
  • Cloudflare (cdnjs) and jsDelivr – content delivery of libraries such as Font Awesome, heic2any (HEIC conversion), JSZip (ZIP files) and canvas-confetti

When your browser loads files from these providers, they may see your IP address and browser details. We have no access to their logs.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to certain processing. Because we keep almost no personal data, there is usually little to provide, but you can contact us at any time using the details below and we will respond.

7. Children’s Privacy

TinyPNG Now is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add or change a tool or an advertising partner. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

9. Contact
